History: In 1993, the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery was the first unit of the British Army to receive the new AS90 Self-Propelled Howitzer. Since entering service it has replaced the fleets older systems namely the 155mm, M109 and 105mm " Abbot". Today the AS90 is the only tracked self-propelled howitzer in the British Army's inventory.
